Workplace giving is a great way to support Orange Sky and people experiencing homelessness. Also known as payroll giving, workplace giving allows staff to donate a portion of their pre-tax salary on a regular basis. Companies can then choose to match donations and double their impact for people experiencing homelessness.

Workplace Giving is a proven tool for increasing staff retention, loyalty and engagement. It's a great way to show your employees that your business cares about their values and community.
Easy and Effective
Workplace Giving delivers sustained, low-maintenance and cost-effective funding to Orange Sky, enabling us to deliver on our mission to positively connect communities.
A Workplace Giving program is a simple and effective way for your organisation to demonstrate a genuine connection and commitment to the community and may provide a point of differentiation between you and your competitors.
How to set up Workplace Giving
To set up workplace giving within your organisation, all you need to do is enable payroll donations and then encourage your staff to sign up and participate. There are two ways to set up payroll donations:
You can set up your Workplace Giving program internally by scheduling a regular bank transfer to Orange Sky that coincides with your pay cycle.
Paying via bank transfer means we receive 100% of the donations, and you can utilise your current HR or payroll platform.
If you run into any problems setting this up, please give us a call on 07 3067 5800, we'd love to help you out.
WORKPLACE GIVING PLATFORM
Using an existing built-for-purpose platform provides an accessible and easy set up process for your payroll team and staff. Staff are able to create accounts, choose a charity and donation amount, and manage their contributions themselves. There are several platforms you can use, including Good Company and Good2Give. However, the use of a third-party platform does incur a fee, unlike bank transfers.
Workplace Giving at REA Group
Hear from Dee A'Bears about Workplace Giving at REA Group
“Our people are passionate about giving back to the community and one of the ways we do that is through our Matched Payroll Giving program. We were lucky enough for Orange Sky Australia co-founders Nic and Lucas to present to our employees and everyone was so inspired that Orange Sky became REA Group’s top Matched Payroll Giving charity the next month! We are incredibly proud to support Orange Sky and humbled by the work they do providing access to showers and laundry for friends in the community who need a hand.”

Want to make a difference while you work? Workplace giving is a simple and smart way to support Orange Sky and people experiencing homelessness.
We’ve put together a list of why workplace giving rocks and why you should consider giving it a crack!
Your donation is pre-tax, meaning you receive an immediate tax benefit and don’t have to wait until the end of the year to claim your deduction. Using pre-tax dollars to make your donation saves you money by lowering your taxable income and reducing the amount you are taxed
No chasing paperwork at tax time. By donating directly through your payroll, your donations are recorded on your payslip and your tax benefit is automatic, saving you the headache of sifting through your inbox, hunting down receipts, in order to claim your deduction at the end of the financial year.
Your donation could be doubled! Many employers offer some form or matched giving program with workplace giving, meaning every dollar your donate could potentially be double, or in some cases even tripled!
Workplace Giving helps ensures stable and continued funding for Orange Sky, ensuring we are able to provide consistent and reliable support to those who depend on us.
You’ll make a difference… There are over 116000 people in Australia experiencing the physical, mental and emotional trauma of homelessness. For less than $3.50 per day, you could ensure access to basic necessities like clean clothes, a warm shower and a compassionate conversation every week for a friend doing it tough.
How do you get started? Check in with your HR or payroll team to see if they have an existing workplace giving program, then simply nominate Orange Sky as your charity of choice and let them know how much you’d like to donate each pay cycle.
If you are an employee wondering how you can get your workplace on board, we recommend speaking to your HR or payroll team. If your organisation does not already have a program set up, you can refer them to this site or ask them to get in touch with us to chat.
Why Workplace Giving?
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make a one off donation through workplace giving?
Every workplace is different, but if your employer is happy to facilitate it, you can make occasional or one-off payroll deductions that are not part of a regular payroll donation.
How do I process and administer workplace giving in our payroll system?
There are many ways you can process payroll giving, either through a direct bank transfer or through using a third party platform. In either case, you will need to keep records of the amount donated on behalf of each employee and advise them in writing of the total amount donated at the end of the financial year.
How much will I save?
The payroll giving platform, Good to Give, has a handy donation tax calculator that estimates how much a donation from each pay (or a generous one-time donation) will save you in tax and actually cost.
Do I need a receipt for payroll donations?
When you donate directly through your salary, you receive the tax benefit immediately and the donation is recorded on your payslip, meaning there's no need to keep receipts for donations made through payroll giving.
At the end of the financial year, your employer will include the total amount you donated in your payment summary, or provide you with a letter or email. Your income statement, payment summary, or other written statement from your employer showing the donated amount, is sufficient evidence. You do not need to have a receipt.
